Material::
The original core
material used for the stem or shaft of piercing
jewelry, was 316L Implant Grade Surgical Steel. Even though this material is
still used and is low in nickel content (usually less than 0.05%) it could
still cause irritation and possible infection to sensitive skin types. For
this reason as the body piercing jewelry industry has evolved there has now
become a wider choice of piercing jewelry materials to choose from
especially for sensitive skin types or for those of you who are
undertaking their first piercing. To help you better understand

:: 316L Surgical Steel
Tongue Ring ::
316L Stainless Steel,
often referred to as "316L Surgical Stainless Steel", contains some Nickel
usually less than 0.05%. Despite the low Nickel content it can cause an
irritation to people with highly sensitive skin. For those of you with
sensitive skin and particularly on an initial first piercing we
strongly recommend that you use a Nickel Free, Bioplast or PTFE material
first. Once the piercing has healed you should be safe to use any material
however you should consult with your piercing studio first.
:: Nickel Free Tongue
Ring ::
Nickel Free Stainless
Steel is especially made for initial or first time piercings. It's Nickel
Content is less than 0.03% which is well below the 0.05% specified in the
European Nickel Directive. Because of its properties Nickel free Jewelry is
extremely safe for a first time piercing and can safely be used on any part
of the body.
:: Titanium Ring ::
Titanium is a natural element which is light as aluminum, as strong as
steel, and is the most hypoallergenic element known to man making it the
ideal metal for jewelry. Titanium is completely hypoallergenic. In fact,
titanium is the most hypoallergenic material known to man, and is rapidly
replacing other surgical implants. For this reason Titanium is rapidly
becoming the preferred metal for Body piercing Jewelry.
:: Anodized Tongue
Ring ::
Titanium is the base
material in Anodized Piercing Jewelry. The actual process takes only a few
minutes as with traditional electro-plating however the effects of anodizing
are quite stunning! Anodized Jewelry is safe and attractive an ideal choice
for those who like a touch of class about their piercing.
:: Black Line Tongue
Ring ::
Again the base
material here is Titanium and the process is similar to Anodized except that
the overall color of the jewelry is a matt black.
:: Bioplast & PTFE
Body Tongue Ring :: Both
these materials are super safe and highly recommended in first time
piercings or for those with highly sensitive skin. In both cases
attachments, balls etc can be attached these can be titanium, acrylic, gold
or steel.
