Body Jewelry Sizes
The size of body jewelry is very important as it
decides in many ways where a piece can be worn. Most of the body jewelry
manufacturing is done in the metric system instead of the American system of
inches. We always try and use both to make it easy for all our customers.
Body Jewelry Length and
Diameter
For straight pieces such as barbells and
slightly bent pieces like bananas we give the length, usually measured from
inside the ball ends. For circular pieces like ball closure rings, circular
barbells and spirals we give the diameter across the ring.
Body Jewelry Thickness
The thickness of the stem is measured in both
millimeters and gauge. How thick it should be depends on the size of the hole
which itself usually depends on which part of the body has been pierced. For
example belly rings are usually 14 gauge while eyebrow rings are often thinner
at 16 gauge. (The wire gauge number gets bigger as the thickness gets
smaller.)
